Considering the importance of conserving natural resources, proper land management and to provide quality education on agriculture to the rural masses, the department of Agriculture Engineering was established in the year 2016 with a permissible intake of 60 students. The institute vows to promote agriculture by conducting need analysis to bridge the gap between agriculture and latest technology. Primary motive for offering this course is to serve the farming community by inculcating the effective utilization of available resources with the motto: “Resources are limited but creativity is unlimited’. The institute has planned to provide state-of-the-art agricultural practices to the farmers and the society at large, ‘for a better and a greener tomorrow’.
To produce talented agricultural engineers having a thorough knowledge in state-of- the-art technologies in the field of agriculture engineering by offering on the job training to students on the latest machinery at the “Shanmugha Model Farm” available inside the college premises.
Achieving excellence in various techniques of agricultural engineering like maximizing crop production, importance of conserving soil chemistry, conservation and judicious utilization of water, irrigation and drainage, post-harvest handling, farming etc.
Inculcating the importance of conservation of land, water, energy and other resources in all agricultural practices. Providing adequate infrastructure to students to carry out research activities with a view to meeting the needs of the society at large. Creating a conducive environment to making the students ‘Educated Future Farmers’, Scientists, Entrepreneurs, Academicians, Technocrats to cater to the ever increasing demands for agricultural produce.
