The objective of Civil Engineering Department is to disseminate the knowledge of latest technologies in Civil Engineering to the students so that they cater the demand of builders / contractors and construction industry in and around the institution as well as to the needs of the country and abroad.

Survey Laboratory The survey lab is equipped with the latest survey equipments such as total station, auto level etc., Consultancy services are offered in the field of surveying land and partition of lands and properties in different districts of Tamil Nadu. The survey camp will be conducted for the benefit of students as a part of academic curriculum.

STRENGTH OF MATERIALS LABORATORY

We have well equipped Strength of Materials Laboratory in our department in an area of 990 Sq.ft. There is Electronic Universal Testing Machine with the capacity of 100 T. Also, other equipments like Torsion Testing Machine (10 kgm), Spring Testing Machine, Impact Test Machine (Izod and Charpy), Rockwell, Vicker's and Brilnell Hardness Test, Deflection Bench apparatus are available. Compression Test are also done on Concrete Cubes, Cement Mortar Cubes, Wood, Paver Block, Bricks, Hollow Blocks, etc., Tensile Tests are done on Steel Rods and Wires.

COMPUTATIONAL LABORATORY

The Computer Centre in the Department of Civil Engineering provides the knowledge of computer based Analysis, Design & Drafting to the students. To provide the quality education to the students, it has a well equipped Computational Lab with all advanced facilities including 70 computers. Latest Software's like AUTOCAD, ARCHICAD and Think Design, etc., are available with adequate printing facilities. The lab is kept open for use by students beyond working hours.

HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING LABORATORY

The Hydraulic Engineering laboratory, established right at the inception of Civil Engineering department, consists of machinery and flow experiments. The laboratory has a floor area of 2025 Sq.ft. The laboratory is fully equipped with all necessary equipment along with their accessories as required for courses (in Civil & Mechanical Engineering) as per the syllabus prescribed by Anna University. The laboratory has kept pace with modern technological advancements with the addition of new equipment as and when required. The Hydraulic laboratory is equipped with flow measuring equipments like orifices, mouth pieces, notches, etc., The fluid machinery laboratory has Pelton wheel, Kaplan turbine, Francis turbine, variable speed, multistage centrifugal pumps, Jet pump, Gear oil pump. Etc., The Laboratory building is provided with adequate ventilation and lighting. Comfortable and enough seating arrangement have been provided for students to work. In addition Bernoulli's Theorem Apparatus, Reynolds' Apparatus, Ship model of determination of Metacentric height and a Hydraulic Ram, etc., Routine repair and maintenance of all equipments is done by the lab technician with support from Service Engineer from outside who, in addition, takes care of annual service.
