The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is a unique center of SSCET established in the year 2011. It offers a 4 years Undergraduate Programme (B.E. Computer Science and Engineering) with an initial intake of 60 students. Since 2011 and 2 years Postgraduate Programme (M.E. Computer Science and Engineering) with an initial intake of 18 students since 2012. The undergraduate programme has been accredited with NBA for 3 years from 2020 – 21 (till 30.06.2023).The Department has also got the permanent affiliation status from Anna University, Chennai from 2020 – 21. The Department has been maintaining high standards in imparting quality education in the challenging fields of Computer Science and Engineering. It has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members with various specialisations in the field of computing, imparts quality training to students, with solid emphasis on understanding the fundamentals and intricacies of the subjects concerned with rich experience in academics, industry and research. The Department has successfully conducted Technical Symposiums and has arranged a number of seminars and several invited lectures by eminent persons both from academia and industry. The Department has well established lab facilities with latest configured computing devices with advanced software’s suited to the syllabus prescribed by the University.
The Department is adopting a new innovative teaching methodology to meet PEOs (Programme Educational Objectives). It is organising technical activities in tutorial periods for the enhancement of student’s skills. It has organised a short-term course for students on ANDROID which will bridge the gap between Academia and Industry. It is also encouraging students to develop the in-house project so that they can meet the industrial requirements, by adopting the standard Project Development Process. Our department has been recognized by IIT Bombay to act as a nodal center for all its distance digital learning process. It has also been bestowed with virtual classroom facilities. We have signed an MOU with NPTEL for displaying the lectures by the eminent professors of Computer Science and Engineering. The faculties of the department are the members of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and Computer Society of India (CSI). The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has the primary objective of providing world-class education in the field of Computer Science. The department is combining excellence in education and research with reference to the industry. Right from its inception, the Department has been offering phenomenal infrastructural facilities with a variety of computing platforms to professional students to meet the burgeoning demands of the IT industry.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)
- Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
- Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
- Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health, safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
- Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis, and interpretation of data and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
- Modern tool usage: Create, select, apply appropriate techniques, resources, modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

To enable the graduates of the M.E. Computer Science and Engineering of SSCET,
PEO1 To apply the principles and practices of Computer Science and Engineering encompassing Mathematics, Science and Basic Engineering and to employ the modern engineering tools effectively in their profession with their world class technical competence.
PEO2 To excel in the field of software industry or in higher studies endowed with the spirit of Innovation and entrepreneurship by evolving their professional knowledge on a lifelong basis.
